MIPS: How do I submit my data to CMS?

Participants of MIPS have several options of reporting. As a user of the drchrono EHR, the reporting format you will be reporting in is the Electronic Health Record (EHR) format. This submission method exports data out of drchrono in QRDA format and is uploaded to the CMS QPP submission website.

If you're a participant of MIPS, you will have until the March following this year's reporting period to submit your data. For example, for the 2017 reporting period (January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017), you will have until March 2018 to submit your data to CMS.

NOTE: While you may export reporting data (QRDA XML), the QPP/MIPS submission portal has not been released by CMS as of December 2017. 

 

Submission Process for MIPS

STEP 1: Check your participation status in the MIPS program on the QPP website: CMS Quality Payment Program. Type in your NPI to see your participation status.

STEP 2: Look for your clinician reporting eligibility status.

Participating Providers: For providers that are mandatory participants in MIPS, your eligibility page will show the following dialogue.

Exempt Providers: For providers that are exempt from MIPS, your eligibility page will show the following dialogue.

STEP 3: For participating providers, navigate to the MACRA/MIPS dashboard in drchrono

STEP 4: Select a provider to report on and the reporting period for that provider. Then, select the 'Download' option. Select the 'QRDA XML' option to download the raw data used to submit to the CMS website.
