What is Meaningful Use?

At a high level, MU is a Medicare and Medicaid incentive program intended to encourage adoption of certified EHRs.  There are incentives for outpatient physicians (EPs) as well as hospitals (EHs) that meet eligibility requirements.

In order to receive the available incentives, EP's and EH's must demonstrate that they are "meaningfully using the EHR" by achieving, attesting to, and reporting on a set of objectives and measures released by CMS and ONC.

Since January 2011, more than $15.1 billion in EHR incentive payments have already been made to over 309,000 providers, and, lucky for you, drchrono is certified as a complete EHR for Meaningful Use!
