Core 10: Clinical Lab Test Results

Objective

Incorporate clinical lab-test results into Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) as structured data. 

Measure

More than 55% of all clinical lab tests results ordered by the eligible professional during the EHR reporting period whose results are either in a positive/negative or numerical format are incorporated in a Certified EHR Technology as structured data

  • DENOMINATOR: Number of lab test ordered during the EHR reporting period by the eligible professional whose results are expressed in a positive or negative affirmation or as a number. 
  • NUMERATOR: Number of lab test results which are expressed in a positive or negative affirmation or as a numeric result which are incorporated in CEHERT as structured data.
  • THRESHOLD: The resulting percentage must be more than 55% in order to for an eligible professional to meet this measure. 

Exclusion

Any eligible professional who does not order lab tests where results are either in a positive/negative affirmation or numeric format during the EHR reporting period.

Please Note: All results coming from labs that are integrated with drchrono, which includes Quest diagnostics, LabCorp, and Diagnostic Laboratory Services, inc. will automatically calculate within your Meaningful Use dashboard. 

All other labs must be entered in manually in order to count (See below to learn how)

How to (Website)

Step 1.) Search for the patient you are wanting to enter in labs for by using the spotlight search in the upper right corner, or through your patients list.  

Step 2.) When in the patients file click on "Lab Orders" on the side menu, and then enter in the results values into the given fields. 

Step 3.) Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Submit Order" to complete the process
