Within box 3A of the UB04 form, DrChrono will print a patient control number that will follow the patient throughout their history with your practice. It is similar to the chart id number (ex: AABB000001) in that once assigned to a patient, it will not be reassigned.
The number can help to identify a patient should that be the number returned on an ERA/835 from a payer. You would be able to enter the information in the URL in the following format:
https://"your DrChrono username".drchrono.com/patients/"8-digit patient control number"
The easiest way to access a chart utilizing a patient control number is to sign in to your DrChrono account, and replace anything after the ".drchrono.com/" portion in your URL with the format above.
