How Does Switching Clearinghouses Impact Practice Collections?

The process of transitioning clearinghouses is pretty straightforward. It will usually just require a redo of the enrollment paperwork.

While payers will accept incoming claims (usually EDI or 837 files) from multiple sources (multiple clearinghouses, mailed forms, payer portals), the ERA or Electronic Remittance (835 files) will typically only be sent to one destination/system. So all claims processed will appear on the single ERA, which depending on the circumstances and timing, could go into your previous EMR.
