How To Calculate Eligible Clinician Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Score

In order to score points within the MIPS Promoting Interoperability performance category, eligible clinicians and practices will have to complete a required SAFER assessment, and Security Risk Assessment as well as participate with the other calculated and attested-to measures within the Promoting Interoperability category. We have broken down these requirements and how they impact your Promoting Interoperability score below.

Required Attestation Measures

There are a few required attestation measures in order for eligible clinicians and groups to earn greater than 0 pts for the MIPS Promoting Interoperability performance category. These measures must be completed during the clinician's reporting period and are as follows:

  • Safety Assurance Factors for EHR Resilience (SAFER) Assessment*
  • Security Risk Analysis*

Required Scored Measures

Next, eligible clinicians must promote interoperability using CEHRT for a minimum of a 90-day contiguous reporting period to score points towards the Promoting Interoperability. Those measures, their default maximum score, and where their points are moved if an exclusion is used are as follows:

Calculated Measures
