Updated ABN
Were you aware that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) form? The new form CMS-R-131 is mandatory as of 6/30/2023. Any ABN signed after 6/30/2023 that is on the previous form will be deemed ineligible.
Per CMS, "Any ABN signed on or after June 30, 2023, with a prior expiration date, will not be considered valid."
The form with an expiration date of 1/31/2026 is the currently accepted form. Please refer to this link for additional information: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Medicare-General-Information/BNI/ABN.
