How Switching Clearinghouses Impacts Practice Collections

Transitioning clearinghouses is straightforward and usually requires redoing enrollment paperwork.

While payers accept incoming claims (usually EDI or 837 files) from multiple sources (multiple clearinghouses, mailed forms, payer portals), the ERA or electronic remittance (835 files) is typically only sent to one destination/system, so all claims processed appears on the single ERA, which, depending on the circumstances and timing, could go into your previous EMR.

If you need help changing your clearinghouse, contact your account manager or create a support case.
