New features

USCDI v3 demographic updates

As part of updated federal certification requirements under Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) HTI-1, we’ve made important improvements to the Demographics section in the iOS app.

📖  ONC Update: Patient Demographics

Ethnicity updates

We’ve improved how ethnicity information is captured in the iOS app to support greater accuracy and meet regulatory requirements.

What’s new:

  • A new Ethnicity Sub-Category field is now available.
  • When Hispanic or Latino is selected, only the relevant sub-categories are shown.
  • Users can select more than one sub-category when applicable.

These updates make it easier to record detailed ethnicity information in a clear and consistent way.

Tribal Affiliation field in patient demographics

We’ve added a new Tribal Affiliation field to the Patient Demographics section of the iOS app to support more complete and accurate patient information.

What’s new:

  • A Tribal Affiliation field is now available in Patient Demographics.
  • Users can select one or more tribal affiliations from a predefined list.
  • The field is optional and can be left blank if not applicable.

This enhancement helps capture important patient demographic details in a consistent and standardized way.

Gender Identity field update

We’ve updated the Gender Identity field in Patient Demographics to align with the latest standards.

What’s new:

  • The Gender Identity options have been updated to use the most current standardized codes.
  • No changes were made to the visible options users can select.

This update ensures continued compliance while keeping the user experience the same.

New pronouns field in patient demographics

We’ve added a new Pronouns field to the Patient Demographics tab to support updated data standards and more inclusive patient information.

What’s new:

  • A Pronouns field is now available in the Sex and Gender section.
  • Users can select one pronoun option from a predefined list.
  • The field is optional and can be left blank.
  • The field appears between Sexual Orientation and Race.

This update helps ensure patient information is recorded respectfully and consistently.

New “Patient Is Primary Responsible Party” option

We’ve added a new option in the Demographics section to make it easier to document self-insured patients.

What’s new:

  • A “Patient is Primary Responsible Party” checkbox is now available in the Responsible Party section.
  • When selected, the Responsible Party information is automatically filled in using the patient’s existing demographic details.
  • The checkbox is optional and off by default.

This update reduces manual data entry and helps ensure Responsible Party information is accurate and consistent.

Race and demographic subcategory data saving enabled

We’ve improved how demographic subcategory information is saved and synced across platforms.

What’s updated:

  • Race Subcategory, Ethnicity Subcategories, and Tribal Affiliation selections are now properly saved.
  • Updates ensure these fields are correctly retrieved and synced between the iOS app and desktop.

This enhancement helps keep patient demographic information consistent and up to date across systems.

Chart ID field added to patient demographics

We’ve added a Chart ID field to Patient Demographics to support recent updates and ensure existing behaviors remain consistent.

What’s new:

  • A Chart ID field is now available in Patient Demographics.
  • Phone number and email behavior in the iOS app remains unchanged following the demographics update.

This update helps maintain continuity while supporting ongoing improvements to the demographics experience.

New “Sex for Clinical Use” Field in Patient Demographics

We’ve added a new field called “Sex for Clinical Use” to the Patient Demographics screen in the iOS app to support updated data standards (USCDI v3).

What’s New

  • A new “Sex for Clinical Use” field now appears directly below the existing “Sex” field in the Demographics tab.
  • The field is a single-select dropdown with the following options:
    • Blank (default)
    • Male
    • Female
    • Specified
    • Unknown

How It Works

  • The field is optional and does not need to be completed.
  • By default, the field is set to blank.
  • It follows the same design and layout as other fields in the Demographics section for a consistent user experience.

USCDI v3 patient allergies and problems lists

We're excited to announce significant enhancements that improve how you capture and share patient information—while keeping you compliant with the latest healthcare standards.

What's new

Enhanced allergy documentation

Your allergy records just got smarter. We've added new verification status options and standardized coding to ensure critical allergy information transfers seamlessly when you share records with other providers. Better documentation means better patient safety.

Improved Problem List management

Document patient problems with greater precision using new status options (like "recurrence," "remission," and "relapse") and verification statuses. Plus, the system now automatically identifies Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) diagnoses, helping you paint a more complete picture of your patients' health needs.

Why it matters

✅ Seamless data sharing with hospitals, specialists, and health systems
✅ Regulatory compliance built right in
✅ More complete patient records that support better clinical decisions

📅 Feature rollout will begin on January 30, with full availability by February 10.

This fix restores expected access to patient communications in the app.

Message Center issue

An issue affecting the EHR App (Version 11.1.6) on iOS devices has been resolved.

Some users were unable to open the Message Center and received a “Response status code was unacceptable: 502” error on iPhone and iPad devices, even though their apps and iOS versions were up to date.

This issue has been fixed. The Message Center should now load normally. If you continue to experience issues, please restart the app or contact support.
